Sunset at 7:02 pm. The nearly full Moon will dominate the sky but the planets Jupiter and Saturn will also put on a show. Jupiter's moon Io will transit Jupiter at 10:15 followed by Io's shaddow cast upon Jupiter's cloud tops starting at 11:00--see if you can be the first to observe this amazing "eclipse". Neptune, the most distant planet in our solar system will also be visible in the east this evening. Uranus, a blueish green orb 1.6 billion miles out will be a treat to see after 9:30 or so. M27 (the Dumbbell Nebula), M8 (Lagoon Nebula), M17 (Swan Nebula) will be among the featured objects along with many other beautiful deep sky objects that should be visible weather permitting.
